Face to face

THIS preserved head and jaws of a 4.3m tiger shark has brought together the US family of its victim and WA shipwreck author Hugh Edwards who salvaged the ‘man-eater’ caught at Cottesloe in 1925.
StreetWise spoke exclusively to the family which plan to visit WA in 2025 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Simon Ettelson’s death and thank the lifesaving club whose members risked their lives to try and save him.
They also will come face to face with the ‘monster’ that killed him (captured here by Waikiki photographer Leith Phillips).
Read how Simon’s death changed beach culture in WA in the 22nd issue of Fremantle’s print and online publication.
A short video of the first online meeting between Simon’s great great-nephew Jonathan Adolph and Edwards is available courtesy of Silver Key Films and StreetWise at www.streetwisemedia.com.au/wa-jaws-anniversary.
