HAIRDRESSERS Lucia, Vanessa and Rosaria are cut from the same cloth.
Mum Pia Passanisi was only 16 when she arrived in Fremantle from Naples in Italy in 1963, having started work at her first salon in the port city in 1968.
Her daughters have followed in her footsteps, The Hair and Barber Room opened at 128 High Street opened on the 50th anniversary last year since Pia started work at the same site.
Today, the family business offers a full suite of hairdressing services to men and women, from a basic trim to a full cut, colour and blow-dry. Bobs, balayages, men’s fades, perms and treatments and massages, all at affordable prices. There’s no need to book, just pop in and take a seat.
The friendly and professional atmosphere ensures you’ll be looked after the minute you walk in, the salon manned by dedicated staff: “Every head of hair is welcome at our salon!”
Pia’s passion for making people look good has rubbed off on the Freo trio who have worked in and managed salons in Fremantle, Cockburn and Armadale.
Pia and her daughters relaunched the family business exactly where Pia completed her apprenticeship. Unable to speak good English, Pia’s first job was at a local sack-sewing factory. Today, the grandmother of 13 still cuts and fashions hair at www.thehairandbarberroom.com and www.facebook.com/The-Hair-and-Barber-Room-354168708384728. Or call 0893352562.
