Born in the Sicilian town of Falcone, Joe was 14 when he arrived in Fremantle on board the Italian ocean liner SS Guglielmo Marconi.

Today, the restauranteur is a local icon passionate about food and service. After years of hard work and investment in the port city, Joe has stamped his brand of Mediterranean cuisine, his traditional dishes sought after by food and wine lovers across Perth.

Portorosa is a combination of ‘porto’ or port and ‘rosa’, pink or rose – named after the biggest resort port in Sicily where Joe grew up before migrating to WA in 1969.

Joe now spends his time between restaurants, regularly sitting with friends to share a beer or casual conversation about Freo, local politics and business.
